AMD Introduces Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition

AMD has expanded its range of processors with one of its Phenom II Black Edition series, the AMD Phenom II 980BE. The latest Quad Core of AMD has a higher clock frequency then it's predecessor with 3.7GHz.
With this introduction, the other Quad Cores of the Phenom II series will be discounted. The price of the 980 is around $195, this is the same as the 975, which will have a prices drop of about $20, the 970 drops from $175 to $155. The price of the 965 drops with $20 too, to a price of around $135.
Like the other quad-core Phenom II's, the 980BE is made with the 45nm architecture. The four cores running at 3.7GHz share 6MB L3 cache, and have 512kB L2 cache for their own. The 758 million transistors on the 258mm square size has a TDP of 125W. The Phenom II 980BE sits in an AM2+ or AM3 sockets, having 938 pins.
