GND-Tech - Thermaltake Toughpower XT Gold and Platinum Power Supplies Announced

Thermaltake is taking yet another step into the high wattage PSU category. We remember their Toughpower 1200W power supply rocking the market for years, and since then they've released a number of high wattage units which happened to be a bit less impressive. Now Thermaltake is stepping up their game with the new high wattage Toughpower XT units, which have 80 Plus Gold or Platinum efficiency certifications to back them up.

So the Toughpower XT 1275W has an 80 Plus Platinum certification which is quite rare these days. Those efficiency requirements are as follows.

90% efficiency at 20% load

The Toughpower XT Platinum and Gold series include a mixture of eletrolytic and polymer Japanese made capacitors, hopefully on the primary and secondary sides as well as on the VRM and modular control board. They have almost all modular cables, reducing clutter inside of your computer case. They also make use of Full Bridge & LLC resonate circuits with an interleaved PFC circuit which should improve the performance of these power supplies. These power supplies also make use of a dual ball bearing 140mm PWM fan which can operate fanless if the PSU load is low enough, and they reach noise levels of only 20.2 DBA for the 1275W, 25.5 DBA for the 1375W and 29.4 DBA for the 1475W.
