Deus Ex: Human Revolution isn't like many games you may have played, it's not entirely like the original Deus Ex either. I say that in a good way.
I'll start this review off with a little background info of the game...
You play Adam Jensen, a security specialist, handpicked to oversee the defense of one of America’s most experimental biotechnology firms. But when a black ops team uses a plan you designed to break in and kill the scientists you were hired to protect, everything you thought you knew about your job changes.
So now that we've gotten that out of the way let me start the actual reviewing part!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an Action/RPG that gives you choices, lots of them, almost too many sometimes. You're really not restricted to doing one certain thing, you can play the game however you like, whether you want to go around killing everyone in sight with your specialized arm chizels, or get through the game without killing a single soul. You can do it any way you want.

Yes you can stab two people at the same time with your chizel arms, but you don't HAVE to. That's what Deus Ex: Human Revolution is about, giving you options, choices and decisions to make. These decisions and choices also have an outcome on the game world, whether small or big. For instance, In the first mission I let a certain someone get away, then later on I killed him, and even farther down the line an NPC mentioned to me that they heard that certain someone was killed. Everything has a consequence.

Okay enough about killing people. In Deus Ex: Human Revolution, you have many ways to dispatch and enemy...or not dispatch an enemy. You have Lethal and Non-Lethal Take Downs.

Then you have lethal and non-lethal weapons. Lethal Weapons consist of Assault Rifle, Pistol, Sniper Rifle, Heavy Rifle, SMG, Grenades and a Rocket Launcher. Non-Lethal weapons merely consist of Tranquilizer Rifle, Tazer Gun, and P.E.P.S Gun.

All of these choices have certain ups and downs though Stealth almost always seems favorable.
With lethal weapons you can normally take care of enemies faster, but there is very limited ammo, and sometimes the enemies become too much to handle. Non Lethal take downs and weapons are quiet and won't attract any unwanted attention. It may take longer, but you sure do feel accomplished when you get through a whole enemy base without them even knowing you were there!

Now lets move onto the Dialogue.

Talking to people in Deus Ex: Human Revolution is smart. It can also be difficult at times.
Sometimes you'll need to get answers out of someone and you'll need to read their face and reactions to properly decide what to say, unless you have the CASIE Augmentation.
Sometimes you'll need to get answers out of someone and you'll need to read their face and reactions to properly decide what to say, unless you have the CASIE Augmentation.

This Augmentation allows you to scan peoples body movements, facial gestures, skin temperature, and heart beat to figure out if what you're saying will get the answers out of this person, if all else fails, you will also have the options to release pheromones that will help convince them to give you what you want, depending on their personality type. It's not a sure thing, you need to monitor the personality meter to make sure you pick the right dialogue option, or you'll get nothing out of them, or worse.

Talking is not the only way to get something out of a person, like I said before, Deus Ex: Human Revolution gives you choice. If you can't convince a person to give you money, try knocking them out and stealing the money...or killing them. Though this hardly ever ends in a favorable way, but it still is an option.

Now I'm going to move onto the aesthetics of the game.

First off lets start out with graphics and performance. Graphics are very nice, nothing extraordinary, but the style and lighting of the game really look stunning, there's alot of atmosphere as well. I'm running the game maxed out in Direct X 11 with all features enabled and get great performance 90-100 FPS upwards. My system specs are below.
- GTX 580
- i5 750
- 8GB DDR3 2000Mhz
- 1TB 7200RPM F3 Hard Drive

On a smaller scale, character models and the level design are very well done. There's tons of tiny details in every corner that will keep you exploring for hours. No areas feel reused(Except maybe the sewers, they all look the same in real life anyways). Atmosphere isn't lacking either, the city hubs feel alive, each and every NPC has a little something to say about you, the world, or the current situation.

Sound is fine, it's nothing I'd jump out of my seat for but the guns sound fine and the take downs sound extremely brutal. The city hubs are booming with sounds and all sorts of things going on, really adds to the immersion of the game.

Overall Score
Deus Ex: Human Revolution overall is an amazingly smart, funny, rich and innovative game. There are nearly no flaws besides some tricky and out of place Boss Fights, but besides that one thing the game is nearly flawless. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is what every Action RPG should strive to be like, it's got moral choices that affect your world, strong AI and atmosphere and a deep story that will keep you hooked and beg you for multiple play throughs.
