  • EVGA X79 FTW Sneak Peek

    62qUZ

Recently we've seen EVGA's previews for their upcoming X79 Classified and SR-3 motherboards. Now they've shown another enthusiast X79 motherboard - the X79 FTW. This E-ATX motherboard is a step below the X79 Classified, although still packs some impressive features.

    Details

The X79 FTW includes 100% POSCAPS which are very reliable solid electrolytic chip capacitors. Like the X79 Classified, a right-angled 24-pin motherboard connector is included for cleaner cable management in your case. Four DIMM slots are present - two on each side of the CPU socket. The X79 FTW also utilizes a UEFI BIOS and has both PCI-E and DIMM disable switches, EVBot support, onboard bluetooth, and supports Tri-SLI with an additional single slot GPU.

As you can see, there are a total of six PCI-E slots; all but one can run at x16 or x8 speed. A single 8-pin CPU connector is visible, six onboard SATA ports (two of which are SATA III), and on the I/O panel you'll see a CMOS reset switch, many USB 3.0 connectors, and a PS/2 port made its return.

Remember, this is just a sneak peek at the motherboard! We'll have many more details on this motherboard and others in the near future.

I really like the clean look of the board. With that kind of quality, this might be the next board I get.

The BIOS was the one area EVGA disappointed people with their Z68 and P67 boards. EVGA's UEFI BIOS really wasn't much different than previous BIOS as you can see here.

It will have to be pretty impressive in order to compete with gigabyte's "3D" BIOS.

Yep and also ASUS - whose BIOS was much like Gigabyte's 3D one... minus the "3D".

I do expect a serious upgrade though.
