  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review

    elderscrollsvskyriml

Well, Skyrim has been out for a bit over 2 weeks now and I've logged over 110 Hours on it. I think it's time for a GND Review.
Skyrim is the newest game in The Elder Scrolls series developed and published by Bethesda. It's the latest and greatest RPG by Bethesda and follows Bethesda's previous style of giving you a huge world to do what ever you like instead of following a tight story.
So lets get this review started...

Nice write up man. Sums it up pretty well. My first character didn't use much magic at all but I did hear it is really cool and powerful so I am going to make a new character and focus on spells and such.

      Good job!

Yeah I have multiple characters(7) and my Main Character, a Nord, doesn't use magic at all, but alot of my other ones mix magic with combat, one is a battle mage, one is just a pure mage.

      Anyways, thanks!

The score comes out to 95.2 which rounds to 95, not 96. Otherwise well done.

Well...I don't think there's a huge difference between the two. I'll leave it at a 96 for now.

Thanks though. Does this review make you want Skyrim at all??

Well I don't even have the game. Don't get all mad. I'll fix it for you since you don't seem to want to.

Duh you wouldn't want the game if you already owned it, that's why I asked! But okay you can change it, not a big difference anyways. What would I be getting mad about by the way?

Wow you actually edit your posts for your appearance! You seemed upset that all I posted was the one little error in the score. As for me getting Skyrim, I'm still not so sure. The gameplay might be great but games I actually spend lots of time on are always story-driven ones, unlike Skyrim.

What? No at first I wrote Is that all you got out of it, because for some reason the text after that wasn't showing up(Except when I quoted it, which made me notice that it was invisible in your post), so I edited your post and it appeared in the editor, then I just saved it. Then I edited my post because I see that's not all you wrote.

Anyways, like I said in the Review, Skyrim can be story driven...If you want it to be. Even if you don't follow the Main quest, it's still story driven, or rather quest driven. You can join one of the many guilds and experience a totally different story. Plus I'm pretty sure you won't have a problem not following the story, it's just as much fun roaming around exploring and doing side quests. I guarantee you'll spend loads of time on this game just exploring, but obviously it's up to you, if you wanted to just go straight on with the story, and then do all the major guild stories, THEN explore...That's fine. You can do it that way.

I'm telling you, you'll love it if you try it.

Nice write up Enad, I already knew the game plays and looks lovely, now you confirmed it. Now I'm waiting for the most important part... for it to get dirty cheap so my inner scrooge allows me to buy it

Really good writeup, and I completely agree with the score you gave it. I haven't had the time to play as much as I'd like, but from what I've completed so far, I'm really liking this game a lot.

Still not going to buy it, I enjoyed Oblivion, and Fallout New Vegas, but I'm not into this kind of game. Your review couldn't persuade me Enad, nice writeup though! Kudos for you.

First of all, awesome review! + REP

Second, after my game finished downloading, I installed it, patched it and played it for exactly 3 hours... And im bored I dont know why, it just doesnt seem to entertain me, its all mainly side quests that you need to do, because if you go for all the main it will finish pretty quickly. Like Jester said I like main-story driven games. I just think people overreact when they hear Skyrim. Its not like its something thats incredible.. not for me at least.

Never the less, don't want to create an argument with any fanboys, just my little opinion

Open world games aren't for everyone.

Personally I prefer spending $60 on a game that I can get 300 hours out of in a huge open world adventure rather than $60 on a 7 hour linear shooter.

The game a bit boring at first for me too, but after some time (a few hours?) I started liking it and have played about 40 hours so far. You may want to give it a try and play a bit more

      7 hour linear shooter + 1000 hour multiplayer-mode

Multiplayer is the worst part of every game(Most), for example I'd much rather play CoD Single Player than deal with the crap Multiplayer.
But regardless of the game, who wouldn't prefer a great, long single player experience than a repetitive MP FPS(Which is every game nowadays)?

ok Ok enough arguing Its a Skyrim thread man keep it that way. FPS/MP has no place here.
