One of this year's hottest titles among the PC gaming community, Metro: Last Light is finally here. After a number of delays, 4A overcame the odds and released the much anticipated sequel to Metro 2033.

Although it is one of the very best shooters ever made, Metro 2033 didn't receive the praise it deserved due to the current state and audience of the gaming industry. Regardless, it is well acknowledged here at GND-Tech, and we hope to see more of that atmospheric, immersive excellence we saw in the first game. Let's see if Metro: Last Light truly delivers.

Metro: Last Light is available on XBOX 360, Playstation 3, and most importantly, PC. Like the first game, PC seemed to be their focus, judging by the technical achievements which I'll discuss later. It uses Steamworks, so no matter how you obtain the game, you'll need a Steam account to play it, though this gives the player all sorts of benefits and thankfully does not require an internet connection.

Since it's a Steamworks game, it also supports Steam cloud which can save your in-game settings, and also slow down the loading of your game slightly (when opening and closing it anyway).

For a game that targets PC gamers more than console gamers, there's a surprising lack of in-game options. You get the usual key bindings, basic mouse and audio options, but very little graphics options. Thankfully, more options ...

ArmA 3 Alpha is one of the hottest discussions in the PC gaming world right now. As the name suggests, it's a public alpha build of the upcoming ArmA 3, a PC exclusive military simulation game. Access to the alpha is granted upon pre-order right now, though keep an eye out for GND's upcoming ArmA 3 alpha invite giveaway!

This article will serve as a small review and overview of ArmA 3 Alpha. Since it's just an alpha, there will be no score or anything; I'll just go over what it offers, and list my observations/criticisms/praises.

The ArmA series is well known by the PC gaming community for being in a genre of its own, created by its predecessor Operation Flashpoint. The only non-Bohemia title in this genre is Iron Front: Liberation 1944, which uses the same engine as ArmA 2 and is essentially ...

Ah, the first official game review of 2013 here at GND-Tech. And what a way to start off the new year! Miasmata is a game made by IonFX, an indie game developing studio. The brains behind the game are two brothers; Bob and Joe Johnson. Miasmata was in the first batch of Greenlit games on Steam, and rightfully so, for it is a very unique and interesting game. It's an open world first person survival-adventure game, set on a mysterious island called Eden.

What makes Miasmata stand out is, you start on a large island with almost nothing given to you: there's no map or objective markers, just a compass and a watch, until you make the map yourself. You have to navigate and stay hydrated with very minimal assistance, and more importantly, you must cure yourself of a plague that will soon kill you. It's a minimalistic but lengthy adventure, that ...

Well folks, it looks like we have another keyboard on our test bed. This time it's from Ducky, a brand we have yet to examine. More specifically, we're looking at the Ducky DK9087 Shine II tenkeyless keyboard.

The Shine II was a smash hit among enthusiasts all around the world, who praise it for its quality and awesome features. Perhaps the most unique thing about the Ducky Shine II is the amount of models available:

    • Full size or tenkeyless
    • Red LED, blue LED, green LED, white LED, pink LED, or yellow LED backlight (can be disabled for boring people who prefer no light)
    • Cherry MX Red, Black, Brown, or Blue switches

The model we have here is the DK9087 Shine II which is tenkeyless, and this particular one has a green LED backlight and Cherry MX Red switches. Unlike rubber dome keyboards including those fake "gamer" keyboards, the backlight is actually bright on mechanical keyboards. For ...

In a random turn of events, we've decided to put up this fun little series. Most of us have played Fallout 3, and noticed the awesome enemy design especially with Mart's Mutant Mod. I decided to have fun with these... first I put together a fun little, poorly organized tournament which you can find here. That was fun, and the Deathclaw Matriarch emerged victorious, but I left out some creatures to make it fair and only pitted together certain creatures. So I've decided to make this fun little compilation and share it with the world.

Of course, I'm using all of these mods since that's the only way to play! Let's begin the countdown! Forget the countdown to 2013, this is far more entertaining.

Number 15 is reserved for the Abominable Mutant. What a start!

Health Value = Unknown (likely around 80)

This specimen was added by Mart's Mutant Mod. Remember those things lying on the test beds in Vault 87? Well as it turns out, they're not all dead. Some of them can now be found wandering around the Wasteland, usually in the company of their superior Super Mutant brethren. Although not quite as dangerous as Super Mutants, and they rely on an abundance of drugs to survive, they are still a force to be reckoned with.

The Deathclaw Young came in at #14. It looks like a harmless little critter, right?

Health Value = Unknown (likely between ...

Just in time for the new year! Cooler Master has sent us their latest mechanical keyboard, the QuickFire TK. It is a compact, backlit mechanical keyboard. It's about time these things are seeing the light of day... for the longest time, those of us who wanted backlighting + compact were stuck with either the insanely expensive, odd-layout Deck 82 key, or the not-so-favorable KBT boards. Cooler Master has answered our call with this new QuickFire TK. For more information on mechanical keyboards, please see this guide.

    http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/me...keyboard-guide

It's actually hard and probably incorrect to call the QuickFire TK "tenkeyless" since it does in fact have a numberpad. But it's more or less the same size as a tenkeyless board. I suppose "compact" is a better term. It is a 92-key board, using a rare layout. Instead of having a seprate numberpad and separate arrow keys like normal keyboards, the QuickFire TK merges the numberpad with the arrow keys and others, namely Insert, Home, Page scrolling, Delete, and all of those keys located in that area. The result is a ...

Since Fallout 3 is quite popular even today, we figured it would be useful to make this article. Here's a list of mods that we consider to be must-haves for any Fallout 3 player. Our goal here is to make the game look better, but more importantly, make the gameplay more challenging and have more variety. For some gameplay videos using these mods, look here.

PRO TIP: Pretty much every mod is installed into Fallout 3\Data (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Fallout 3\Data.

PRO TIP #2: As with some other mods, if you don't have all the DLC, uncheck the version for the DLCs you don't have in Fallout Mod Manager. For example, as of this very moment I only have Broken Steel, so I have to uncheck Mart's Mutant Mod for Mothership Zeta and Point Lookout.

    Fallout Mod Manager

You must get the Fallout Mod Manager, which makes managing mods much easier and is necessary for adjusting mod load order, which is very important. Luckily it comes with a nice installer.

You'll want to select archive invalidation in FOMM, and you don't need to launch FO3 through it.

    Large Address Aware Enabler

This mod is an absolute necessity for those who download graphics mods, otherwise the game might become unstable. It allows FO3 to use up to 3GB RAM instead of 2GB. Installation is a bit trickier, but just read the instructions carefully and you'll be fine.

The console is a command prompt that lets you use developer-like functions. The default ...

Dishonored is a stealth action game developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda. This was a game I was most curious about, due to its style. It looked unique in every way from its visual presentation to its gameplay and the world design. I didn't know what to expect, but with all the high praise and big names behind the game, I had high hopes. Let's see if Dishonored can stand out in this mediocre year.

Dishonored is a Steamworks game, requiring the player to have a Steam account. This is beneficial in numerous ways; for those who are (for some reason) obsessed with achievements, Dishonored has plenty of them. The game will also never require a disk to play.

So I'll get right to it now: the first thing that stands out about the game is the stylish menu design. The developers left an artistic touch on every aspect of the game. Looking at graphics options, I'm quite disappointed. Like most UE3 games, Dishonored doesn't have much graphics customization.
