EVGA and k|ngp|n set benchmark and overclock records whenever new Intel and NVIDIA hardware is released. Since not long ago we saw the release of the GTX 580, they saw this as an opportunity to set some new world records.
The benchmark they used was 3DMark Vantage, a DirectX 10 benchmark with GPU and CPU tests. Although PhysX is supported, it was disabled for these runs so that they can qualify to be official scores. The hardware used to set these new world records are the following.
- EVGA SR-2 Classified Motherboard
- 2x Intel Xeon X5680 Processors @ 5.23 GHz (5.45 GHz for single GPU run)
- G.SKILL Perfect Storm 4GB DDR3 @ 2036 MHz (2096 MHz for single GPU run) @ 7-8-7-22 1T
- EVGA GTX 580 4-way SLI @ 1070/2140/1153 (1296/2591/1251 for single GPU run)
- 2x EVGA SR-2 Classified 1200W Power Supplies
The processors and all four video cards were cooled with liquid nitrogen. Lets have a look at their setup and scores!
A hardware modification was applied to all four GTX 580s to achieve higher voltages for higher overclocks.

Here is the world record system in all of its glory.

The team achieved P73524 on 3DMark Vantage, taking the lead by over 3000 points.

They also set a world record run for a single GPU, with a score of P42064.
